Faculty of Chemistry, Warsaw University of Technology and Chemical Faculty, University of Warsaw established Warsaw Academic Chemical Consortium that has been given the status of National Centre of Scientific Excellence - KNOW (pol. Krajowy Naukowy Ośrodek Wiodący) in the chemical science field for years 2012-2017, the status is no longer given by the Ministry to any Consortium.


It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the 7th International Symposium on Metallomics (http://www.metallomics2019.pl) in Warsaw, Poland, from June 30th to July 3rd, 2019, supported by the Faculty of Chemistry, The Committee on Analytical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), Polish Chemical Society (PTChem) and Royal Society of Chemistry (UK).

The meeting is the next in the successful series started in 2007 in Nagoya and held since then biannually (Cincinnati, 2009, Munster 2011, Oviedo, 2013, Beijing, 2015, Vienna 2017). We have set a great scientific program covering the different aspects of the understanding of the interactions of metal ions and their chemical structures in the biological systems, the biological functions these structures acquire and the fine-tuning of their usage in biology with a focus on a global multimetal approach.

The workshop is designed particularly for PhD and master students who would like to get theoretical and practical introduction into modern quantum chemistry and molecular modelling. Senior scientists can also benefit from the workshop as the presented state-of-the-art methods can be directly applied in many fields of chemistry. Moreover, participants will learn on one hand side what type of scientific questions can be readily answered by simple calculations and, on the second, hand how to identify problems that would require more elaborate treatment.

During International Trade Fair iENA 2017 "Ideas-Inventions-New Products" held on November 2-5 2017, Gold Medal was awarded to the invention „Promoted cobalt catalyst for low-temperature ammonia synthesis”, made by team of: prof. Wioletta Raróg-Pilecka, PhD DSc Eng.; Magdalena Zybert, PhD Eng.; Aleksandra Tarka, MSc Eng. in cooperation with scientists from the Institute of New Chemical Syntheses in Pulawy: Paweł Kowalik, PhD, Katarzyna Antoniak-Jurak, PhD and Paweł Wiercioch, Msc during research project entitled „Cobalt catalyst for energy saving ammonia synthesis” (PBS2/A1/13/2014) financed by National Center for Research and Development under the Applied Research Program.

During this year's edition of Fair 850 inventions from 31 countries were presented.

Lewiński Group Covers 2016-17: from fundamental organometallic chemistry, through catalysis towards nanomaterials.

Dominik Jańczewski, PhD, DSc, Eng., KNOW Assistant Professor at our Faculty, is a coauthor of the paper that recently has been published in the prestigeous Nature Nanotechnology journal (IF = 35,3). Work describes new method to measure the isoelectric point of proteins by employing very small amounts of sample. It is possible due to novel method of measuring interaction force between model surface and protein immobilized on the tip of atomic force mixroscope (AFM).
